From 29th March you will need to log in to use PCs in the Library
Why?
PCs will be upgarded with new applications and you will be able to save files to the desktop. The change is also required to comply with University IT regulations
How do I log in?
You log on using the barcode number on your University/Library card and the password you use for accessing your record on OLIS, to reserve or renew books, or making stack requests.
If you have a card with your photo, the password is usually your date of birth in the format 25mar2010 - you may have changed this.
If you have a Continuing Education Library card (no photo) your password will be the same as the barcode unless you have changed it. If it is the same as the barcode, it will need resetting, please ask staff.
I'm in a hurry!
We have one Sun Ray (networked terminal) which does not require you to log in
How can I find out more?
See the Reader FAQ guide, also available in the Library
How do I change my password?
See the Resetting your password guide, also available in the Library

New Computers in the Library
All computers in the Library have been replaced. We now have two different types:
The first 3 terminals inside the Library on the left are designed to provide quick access to library resources. You can access OLIS, Oxford electronic resources and the internet (so you can check your email on them as long as other people aren't waiting). You can save items to a USB memory stick, but you will not be able to open items already on your stick
The other 4 terminals are 'proper' PCs and in addition to accessing library resources and the internet as above, you can also use Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint. They have both USB ports and CD/DVD drives.
